Human Interest share second EP reveal ‘Better Press Repeat’

“An intriguing musical concoction that doffs its cap to grunge, the Kinks, Iggy Pop and T. Rex” The Sunday Times

East London risers Human Interest share brand new single ‘Better Press Repeat’ (video here), out today (July 3rd) via cult indie label Nice Swan Records (English Teacher, Sprints, Opus Kink).

Marking the second reveal from their forthcoming ‘Smile While You’re Losing (An Audio Guide To Wellness)’ EP, set for release September 6th, ‘Better Press Repeat’ follows lead single ‘Shapeshifting’ and delves deeper into the group’s musical cannon with its brooding, anthemic undertones and potent instrumentation further exemplifying their unbridled potential.

Hailed by The Sunday Times as “an intriguing musical concoction that doffs its cap to grunge, The Kinks, Iggy Pop and T.Rex”, and following substantial press backing from the likes of DIY, Dork, Clash, The Line Of Best Fit, So Young, CMU, Rough Trade, The Forty-Five, Human Interest have fast become mainstays on the BBC 6 Music (Steve Lamacq), Radio X (playlisted) and Sirius FM airwaves. With their biggest ever headline show announced for The Lexington, London this September (13th) to coincide with their EP release, the quartet are primed to capitalise on their acclaimed summer festival run with a slew of tastemaker festival appearances later this year.

Speaking ahead of their latest single, co-lead vocalist Cat Harrison explained: “‘Better Press Repeat’ was written during the first lockdown where I went through a phase of drinking box wine from about 1pm onwards. However, it’s not as depressing as it sounds – it was weirdly a fruitful time in my creative existence. There was nothing to do apart from feel what you were feeling, and if you were lucky enough to have an outlet, get it out.

I was trying to capture that feeling of looking at the state of the world and feeling really disheartened. The title sums things up pretty well: we’ve gone and fucked it, let’s start again… BETTER PRESS REPEAT. There’s also a sense of wanderlust in there – the type of wanderlust that comes when you’re stuck in a tiny room in Brixton – pessimistic optimism, which I suppose is a core theme in our music.”

Human Interest’s ‘Better Press Repeat’ is out now via Nice Swan Records and available on all digital platforms.
